Design teams work in tandem to produce the next evolution of commuter bikes
Created for ease of movement through the city landscape, the PUMA Bike is designed for urban transport. Two new styles of PUMA bicycles; The Pico and The Nevis, designed in collaboration with Biomega will be introduced this Spring. Both feature smart European design and commuter technology collided with urban American style. Taking inspiration from the rich color palettes of Africa and the Spring 2010 PUMA Africa campaign to honor the World Cup tournament being held in South Africa in July, the bikes feature rich color blocking in bold, vibrant hues.
The PUMA Bike is known for paring down a bike to its bare essentials and using innovative and thoughtful details to meet the needs of the urban biker. Designed to find solutions to everyday annoyances that come with maneuvering bikes through the urban jungle, The PUMA Bike serves a special urban function, all with a fashionable twist. Accompanying each bike is a sticker book of bike names, which allows the rider to create a unique name for the bike.
"The objective of PUMA's new series of Biomega designed bicycles is to create unique bikes, refresh urban mobility and for an outside design lead company to share a different perspective so that we can learn from one another.,” says Antonio Bertone, Chief Marketing Officer for PUMA.
“Biomega is a pioneer of the designer bike and the ideal partner for us in this venture."
The Pico
The Pico features a highly distinguishable design that reflects PUMA’s unique DNA. The unisex bike is both practical and commercial with a fashionable twist of bold color blocking. The bike features a lightweight aluminum frame, Shimano Acera 8 speed gear set, disc brakes and an oversized front carrier. Small, sturdy and convertible, The Pico references a BMX style bike but holds the body of any upright.
The Nevis
The Nevis mixes city bike features with those of a cruiser designed to hold the body in a laid back, upright position. Large, comfortable and sturdy, the bike comes with an innovative front carrier for transport of everyday needs. Featuring a lightweight aluminum frame, Shimano Acera 8 speed gear set, disc brakes and unique color blocking, the bike is the perfect ride in any city.
